Since initially learning of the sacred conception of my first born child, I knew that a beautiful journey was commencing. In due time, I learned that we would be blessed with a healthy baby daughter and with it came a realization of the fullness of life among many ecstatic emotions. Being well aware that we now live in a progressive culture where involved fathers can be an equal partner in care giving, from day one, I have naturally and willingly been hands-on supporting the unparalleled role of mom.
In my personal train of thought, one of the things that will matter most in my father-daughter relationship is that I seek to live a life of integrity and honesty. Avoiding hypocrisy and admitting my own shortcomings so that she has a realistic and positive example of how to deal with the world; will be of utmost importance. Continually teaching her that when our words don’t match our actions, we lose a measure of healthy ownership and control over our lives and careless language undermines our relationships, chips away at our sense of self and eventually decreases our personal power.
Words and language patterns are powerful forces of creation. They articulate our reality. They put our dreams and goals out there for the whole world to see and they are the cornerstone of personal integrity. Hence, I want to make sure the world knows that Karla Michelle Cartagena Crespo made me the most happiest and appreciative father on the face of this earth when she gave birth to my first born child, María Alejandra.
Desde que inicialmente aprendí de la concepción sagrada de mi primogénita, sabía que un hermoso viaje estaba comenzando. A su debido tiempo, aprendí que seríamos bendecidos con una bambina saludable y pronto me di cuenta de la plenitud de la vida entre muchas emociones extáticas. Estando bien consciente de que ahora vivimos en una cultura progresista en la que los padres involucrados pueden ser un socio junto con la mamá en la atención de la bambina, desde el primer día, naturalmente y voluntariamente he estado apoyando el papel incomparable de la mamá.
En mi forma de pensar, una de las cosas que más importarán en mi relación de padre e hija es que busco vivir una vida de integridad y honestidad. Será de suma importancia evitar la hipocresía y admitir mis propias deficiencias para que ella tenga un ejemplo realista y positivo de cómo enfrentar el mundo. Continuamente le enseñaré que cuando nuestras palabras no coinciden con nuestras acciones, perdemos una medida de sana propiedad y control sobre nuestras vidas y el lenguaje descuidado debilita nuestras relaciones, deshace nuestro sentido de sí mismo y eventualmente disminuye nuestro poder personal.
Las palabras y los patrones de lenguaje son fuerzas poderosas de la creación. Ellos articulan nuestra realidad. Ponen nuestros sueños y metas por ahí para que todo el mundo vea y son la piedra angular de la integridad personal. Por lo tanto, quiero asegurarme de que el mundo sepa que Karla Michelle Cartagena Crespo me hizo el padre más feliz y agradecido sobre la faz de la tierra cuando dio a luz a mi primogénita, María Alejandra.
